The Original Clubhouse
The original Clubhouse (shown top right) was built around 1892 following the birth of the Club. It takes no more than a casual glance to trace the subsequent extensions that have been necessary to follow the Club's development. Today we have a building to be proud of in which the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, the staff smiling and helpful and the quality excellent. The 19th is worth a visit on its own.

Traditional Clubhouse dress has been sensibly relaxed in recent years. At breakfast there are no restrictions apart from what is understood to be smart casual. Beyond this, the informal lounge and bar remain smart casual throughout the day on all days except Sunday.
The dining room is also smart casual except for Sunday lunch and evening dinners. The formal lounge - recently named the Jack Aisher Room in honour of our President - requires jacket and tie for gentlemen and formal dress for ladies throughout the day.
We find that these rules are followed without problem.
