ON THE COURSE

Handicap Requirements

The maximum handicap limit is 28 for gentlemen and 54 for ladies. Handicap certificates should be presented to the Professional’s Shop on arrival. The Club reserves the right to refuse access to the course to anyone who does not have a valid handicap certificate without refund.

Prior To Play

  • All players must check in at the Golf Office or Professional’s Shop at least 15 minutes before their start time to confirm the number of their group and the format that they are playing.
  • The Club cannot guarantee a tee time for any golfers exceeding the number of players already booked.
  • Visitors are requested to change in the clubhouse changing rooms and not in the car park.

Dress Code – On The Course

We expect players to wear smart golf clothing and golf shoes. Trousers and shorts must be tailored; denim is not permitted. As is a tradition of the Club, men wearing shorts must also wear knee-length socks, (which are available for sale in the Professional’s Shop).

Tee Sets

Play will be from the Club tees unless prior permission has been sought to play from alternative tees. This is to help ensure good pace of play for the enjoyment of all golfers.

Slow Play

  • Please avoid slow play.
  • The normal courtesies of golf should be observed and the rules of etiquette should be followed at all times.
  • For visitors guidance a round of golf should take a maximum of 3 1/2 hours for two-balls, and 4 hours for four-balls.
  • If your group is holding up play, please stand aside and let the group behind play through.
  • Persistently slow players may be asked to leave the course. No refund will be given.

Royal Cinque Ports has a Halfway Hut adjacent to the 9th green. Hot and cold refreshments can be purchased here. Toilet facilities are also provided.

Care For The Course

We would ask that all golfers:

  • Repair their pitch marks.
  • Replace their divots.
  • Rake bunkers after use (except waste areas).

IN THE CLUBHOUSE

Opening Hours

The bar is open for service at 8.00am and closes at 8.00pm in the Summer, or 6.00pm in the Winter. We are happy to extend these hours but only by prior arrangement.

Dress Code In The Clubhouse

Except for formal occasions (see below), the dress code throughout the clubhouse is smart casual. The standards which apply on the course, also apply in the clubhouse, but the wearing of knee-length socks is not a requirement. We do require that:

  • Players change out of waterproofs, wet or muddy clothing and footwear
  • Headwear (other than that worn for religious reasons) and metal-spiked golf shoes are not worn outside the changing rooms

Functions & Events

The dress code for formal functions and events (including lunches, dinners and other social occasions) will be specified by the event organiser, in consultation with the Secretary & Club Manager, and will be in keeping with the history and tradition of the event. It will be communicated to those attending in advance
